Detained Senator Leila de Lima temporarily left her cell yesterday at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center inside the Camp Crame in Quezon City for a one-day medical check-up.

A medical coaster from the PNP-General Hospital believed to have been carrying De Lima left the PNP Custodial Center around 2:50 p.m. It was followed by a police mobile, another ambulance and two to three more convoy vehicles.

According to the PNP-Public Information Office (PIO), De Lima would undergo a CT scan at the Philippine Heart Center in Quezon City and is expected to be back Monday night.

No interview was granted to the media as the coaster apparently fetched De Lima inside the Custodial Center, where members of the press were not allowed to enter.

In an order released by the Muntinlupa Regional Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 206 dated March 6, De Lima was granted with a one-day furlough after her personal physician, Dr. Errol Rhett Santelices, prescribed her to undergo a check-up.

This, after the doctor found an impression of a liver mass in her body.
