A man from Wanakerta village in West Java, Indonesia with an enormous tumor in the face that engulfs his eyes and hangs like a trunk is pleading for help.
Herdi Firmansyah has battled with the growth since he was a baby and was bullied so badly because of his appearance.
Apparently, the surgeon had removed the tumor five times from the 34-year-old man since it first appeared on his eyelid when he was just three months old.
His mother, Maria said, “Firmansyah was born as a normal baby but after three months a small lump developed on his right eyelid. The lump was removed five times through a surgery but it regrew after some time.”
“We are worried about him as the condition seems life-threatening. It has already taken his vision in one eye. We fear it might take his life as well.
Our son didn’t join the junior high school because of this condition as he was being mocked at in the school every day.”
Because of the tumor, Firmansyah is unable to talk and eat properly. Worst, he had to live a life like a hermit because the villagers are scared of him.
Firmansyah father, Ace Suganda, 82, said, “We spent every single penny we had on his treatment. Even sold off one of our houses but his condition did not improve. The tumor has now spread to his other body parts as well and we lack the crucial funds needed for advanced medical treatment.”
“It is very sad for us to see him in pain. First, he lost vision in his eye and now we don’t want him to lose his life as well.”
Unfortunately, according to Mr. Suganda, they have not received any help from the government but they are hopeful for his son’s future if the government funds his treatment outside the country.
He said, “We hope the Indonesian Government would offer us help so that we can take our son to any foreign country where he can be treated well and can have a good future.”
