A successfully rescued and repatriated Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) from Kuwait could not help her emotion as she narrates the suffering and abuse she experienced at the hands of her Kuwaiti police employer.
The 27-year-old Bretchie Lyn who hails from Siquijor left her husband and four children back in January 2018 to work abroad in the hopes to give them a better life.
But her dreams crashed after suffering physical abuse from her employer and the recent maltreatment she experienced is getting her skin burnt after her male employer didn’t like the taste of the food she had cooked for them.
“Natikman po niya ‘yong luto ko na maalat, ‘yon po sinunog po iyong balat ko ng lighter… dito po sa katawan ko. Ginanu’n po iyong uniform ko at saka dito po sa may kamay,” she narrated.
Bretchie Lyn also revealed that this is not the first time her employer subjected her to physical abuse, he also beat her for refusing to play with the employer’s child.
“Iyong ginamit ‘yong pansandok ng sabaw. Pinalo-palo po,” she added.
Good thing, she was able to speak with a fellow OFW in a park who helped her seek rescue through a video message where she showed off her bruises and other injuries.
The OFW’s post went viral on social media on March 9, 2018, and successfully reached the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait who successfully rescued Bretchie Lyn the following day.
The Embassy and her agency are also supporting Bretchie Lyn in her eagerness to file a case against her abusive employer.
